ATG-FSS Air Transfer Grille - Smoke/Fire Shutter

Fire and Smoke protection can actively reduce the risk to human life and minimise damage to property and its contents.

Fire and Smoke dampers that are included as part of the HVAC system play a critical role to contain and prevent the spread of Fire. In addition, there may be a requirement to evacuate smoke and poisonous gases from a specific fire compartment.

Apreco have developed the ATG-FSS following extensive feedback from the Healthcare market. There is a need for a fully tested product that can allow the transfer of air through the facility, with the ability to close in the event of a fire. Clients, Consultants, and Infection Control personnel have received the ATG-FSS positively, appreciating the sleek, and compact design.

The design philosophy behind the ATG-FSS followed consultation with world-renowned experts in the testing of Fire & Smoke rated products for the construction industry, WarringtonFire. We reviewed the current testing approach to Fire damper/shutter products and concluded that they are generally covered by BS EN 1366-2:2015 which relates to the ability of a fire damper to prevent fire and smoke spreading from one compartment to another through the air ductwork systems.

An Air Transfer device (grille) is traditionally installed within a 30- or 60-minute fire-rated wall, and not in the air ductwork system. Apreco provided a product tested in a manner for the environment it was designed for, we adopted the following test protocols to evaluate the performance to BS EN 1364-5:2017 Fire Resistance Testing.
